What is Ankarolina?

Ankarolina is a special type of anchor rope used for boats. Ankarolina is sturdy, thick and at the same time lightweight and easy to handle. When compared to other anchor ropes, ankarolina anchor ropes are easy to coil and unwind. This reduces the time taken and the energy spent by a person in winding and unwinding the ropes and coils of anchors.
The main material used for making the coil of ankarolina is aluminium, whereas the ropes are made of polyester. Polyester is a material that ensures long-lasting ability and thereby less wastage of resources. Another feature of the ankarolina anchor rope is that the rope is flat unlike the other anchor ropes that are coiled for greater utility. The flatness ensures complete easiness for storing the device in the boat.

Apart from aluminium, steel is another material that is used to build the equipment. The whole system operates like this:
  • The spool of the ankarolina anchor rope is made of aluminium
  • The winding part of the equipment around which the rope has to be wound is built of steel
  • The actual anchor ropes are made of polyester
  • The entire equipment can be detached with the help of a removable handle
The ankarolina system is basically a European system of mooring and anchoring boats. However, owing to the large scale success of this anchor line in the countries of Europe, this system is slowly being adopted all over the world.

It has to be noted, however, that given all the above features, the most important feature of this anchor rope is that it can be used for boats of all sizes. This makes the anchor rope feasible and puts very little financial pressure on the boat owner as investing in various types of anchor ropes for one boat could prove to be very expensive.
The cost of an ankarolina depends on the size of the boat. An anchor rope for a boat size of around seven metres could cost around 154.95pounds. Similarly, an anchor line for a boat size of around 15 metres could cost around 199.95pounds.
